56) Mail-Art Discussions

As I have noticed only few discussions take place here. It seems most mail-artists are busy with sending out and receiving mail-art and don't like to discuss the subject. No problem. The blog will stay online just to demonstrate that.

Hello, Ruud,

I hope, you paint it too black :-)

You are right, there are not too many comments on questions. But some times there are some really helpful answers. After three weeks beeing on vacation and offline, I wanted to start a new question. And I will do ;-)

And as long as this website doesn't cost any money I see no reason to delete it. You never know: May be it needs more time to bring people here who want to discuss.

Best,
mischa

Sadly or maybe not so sad is the fact that there are far too many distractions on the internet these days. Millions of blogs and millions of films on YouTube to watch to name but two! Impossible to make comments on all of them!

I joined this group with an invitation from Juud because I take mail-art seriously. I have read comments where a few blogers have said it shouldn't be taken seriously. My question is, "Then why be involved in Mail-Art?" I find it fulfilling because the more mail-art I send out, the more I receive. I like the way Ruud refers to it as "energy".

Also, I cannot imagine being engaged in an area of interest and not read as much as possible about it. I read non-fiction books only.

There is another possiblity to explain why some mailartists don't get involved in Discussions: they are just "intellectually lazy."

The time-problem is obviously there. So many things are happening online. The mail-art in the P.O. Box is still the best, but answering one letter costs the same time as 10 e-mails. Quantity and quality...... Where should one go for. A mix maybe.

Since I have retired, I am not faced with the time issue which I agree is a major factor for most mailartists. I realize how fortunate I am in this area.

No one may be reading my comment at this time or at any other time but it doesn't matter because this is a site where I can relax and share my thoughts when I want to. I feel solitude right now. It is an escape from the world. I think we all need that from time to time.
